Monochrome

Falling leaves always return to their roots - Chinese proverb.

In 2004 I had been photographically restless for some time. One lunch break I happened to be browsing the local newsagent when a cover of Black and White Photography magazine caught my eye. On the cover of this issue was a photograph by Ernst Hass. In that instant I knew what I wanted to do. Although I enjoy shooting in colour it is pre-digital monochrome that is my photographic roots.

When I used to have a darkroom my last prints were made using warm tone fibre papers developed in exhausted AGFA Neutol WA. The digital photographs here come quite close to the tone achieved.
